provides grants of up to $8,000 to individual farmers and $10,000 to collaboratives to support initiatives to develop new sources of agricultural income, including all forms of agri-businesses. Funds can be used for equipment or for construction (for instance, of greenhouses). Examples of innovative initiatives supported by the Fund include: model pack-houses, mobile farmers markets, heritage poultry breeding, farm-to-school projects, specialty produce, micro-dairy bottling, cheese-making, low tunnel season extension, tropical plant production, wind-powered farms, and model collaborative marketing ventures.
